Mark Wooda, CEO of OnShift, a Senior Housing Forum Partner and leader in human capital management software, was excited to introduce me to their new software suite, which includes OnShift Insight, OnShift Hire and OnShift Schedule.  These tools give providers data-driven and predictive tools to find and recruit talent, make quality hires and optimize schedules.

He said, “In working closely with nearly 2,000 senior living and post-acute care providers, we heard time and again how difficult it is to find, hire and retain staff, especially caregivers.”

When to Hire

“The time between identifying the need to hire and actually filling a job opening range anywhere from 30 to 60 days on average. In the meantime, open shifts still need to be filled, which often leads to overtime or agency usage. This means increased costs and less consistency in care.”

An industry staffing study found that 50% of providers wait until an employee leaves before making a new hire decision. This reactive process assumes that the organization was optimally staffed prior to the employee’s departure, which often is not the case. OnShift Insight is the only program that analyzes staffing patterns in the schedule and proactively recommends positions to hire..

Once an open position is identified and approved, the job requisition is generated automatically in OnShift Hire, jumpstarting the hiring process. The software offers extensive sourcing and recruiting tools that allows a community to build a candidate pool, manage talent acquisition online from contact-to-hire, and track progress throughout the entire hiring lifecycle.

OnShift’s new release builds on OnShift’s scheduling application to give providers proactive tools to identify hiring needs, fill those positions, and staff properly for increased satisfaction, lower costs, and higher quality care.

Mark concluded, “OnShift has been and always will be committed to creating innovative and easy-to-use software to solve workforce challenges in senior care. These principles are foundational to all of OnShift’s solutions, including our new hiring products.”
