Fitness is the kind of thing many communities claim to be doing, no, wait. We are doing this at least in some organizations and some communities.

The Big Idea

I am not suggesting that we install stationary bicycles in the dining rooms of our communities (although even that doesn’t seem all that far-fetched to me). But imagine for a moment that you served breakfast in your fitness center and made it so that it was possible for residents to eat breakfast and drink coffee while getting some exercise.

Real and Perceived

Doing this would have two benefits. One real and the other may be . . . more perceived than real. The first is that it sends a 100% message that your community, your organization is committed to the health and well-being of your residents. The second thing that it does is to give your residents one more opportunity to stay stronger, healthier, and more fit.

What do you think? Would you do this?

Will you do this?
