I have had Pinterest on my radar screen for a few months. I am convinced it is a great way to make senior housing communities more visible. I have started a Senior Housing Forum Pinterest page, but I would prefer you don’t go looking for it yet because it is really rough. Last week Cisco & Co published a great article on Pinterest.
“Within less than a year from its beginning, Pinterest – a photo-heavy, content-sharing, virtual ‘pinboard’ where users display and share items of interest – has established itself as one of the hottest and most engaging sites on the social network radar . . . .”
If you are using Pinterest post a link in the comments section.
Don’t miss a single issue of Senior Housing Forum, subscribe today. It is free! We do not sell or share your contact information. The posts are practical and never too long.
Go to the main page of Senior Housing Forum and on the right hand side you will see a place to enter your email to subscribe. You will receive notification when a new article is posted. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Finally: If you know anyone who is looking at emergency call systems I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with them about Vigil Health Solutions.

Before you leap into Pinterest I would read the article linked below. Written by a photographer/lawyer, the post raises legitimate, ethical questions about pinning photos without permission of the photographer. Pinterest does not give you the legal right to “intellectual property” & could very well become the Napster–exposing Pinners to lawsuits.

Excellent advice for those considering Pinterest for their communities. I recently created a personal site where I am creating a vision board of things I love, inspirational thoughts, and travel aspirations. It’s fun, creative, and engaging! For community organizations, I think the possibilities are endless for providing rich content to engage your residents and prospects. For the most benefit, you will always link back to your website, blogsite, etc.

With any social media sites, content is important. Make sure the content is applicable and relevant to your audience or followers. I just started building my Pinterest page, which currently focuses on stats/infographics pertaining to caregivers, seniors, and baby boomers. Here’s my site: http://pinterest.com/seniorshower/
I agree with Lori that you can be creative with your boards/categories. You can also pin videos too. Have fun building your page!
Let’s connect with ideas on how to leverage Pinterest to provide resources to the senior community.

Liz – For some reason, I can’t get your link to work. Can I just search for you in Pinterest by lizandett or elders-with-edge?
