I’ve Never Apologized for Anything — And That’s the Problem

Patti LuPone is a Broadway icon, famous for saying exactly what she thinks — and never backing down.

A few weeks ago, The New Yorker published an interview where LuPone didn’t just speak her mind — she took aim at fellow Broadway stars Audra McDonald and Kecia Lewis.

Here’s what she said:

“Let’s find out how many Broadway shows Kecia Lewis has done, because she doesn’t know what the f*** she’s talking about. She’s done seven. I’ve done 31. Don’t call yourself a vet, bitch!”

When asked about Audra McDonald:

“She’s not a friend.”
And when pressed about McDonald’s performance in Gypsy, LuPone just stared at the reporter for 15 seconds, then changed the subject.
