I recently came across this article at Fast Company. While not targeted at the senior housing industry, it provides great wisdom on to be a world class leader.

Here is the short form version.
- Don’t check your email in the first hour of the day . . . and don’t cheat by checking it at home before getting to work.
- Be aware of, and grateful for, what you have.
- Do the really difficult stuff first.
- Choose your frog and write it down. – You will have to read the article . . .
- Ask yourself if you are doing what you want to do.

Bascially, the point it to take some time to be calm before jumping into the day. I go to the gym first thing. This is good advice!

I sit, watch the news and drink coffee. I think I should stop the news watching and start my day on a positive note!

I start weekday mornings by doing 20 minutes of Pilates. It limbers my body and relaxes my thoughts. A win win for me before heading to work!
A couple of eggs, a cup of good coffee and flipping to various news stations.

Great article and good guidance. I start my day by walking two miles with my dog, being thankful for what I have and thinking about friends and family. I also do my stretching exercises along with this. Then I have some “me” time reading the paper and having a cup of tea a breakfast. The idea of doing something big early in the day is great as it provides a lovely sense of accomplishment.
