Years ago, the pastor of a church I attended would start his sermon saying exactly the same thing each week. He would look out over the congregation and say, “Chicago, we are blessed.” (not really Chicago)
I found out later it drove one particular member crazy. His life was a mess, not a bad week, a real mess, and here was this man telling him, in front of everyone, how blessed he was.
I think about that every time I catch myself about to say something similar.
Bad stuff happens to all of us, though scrolling through some people’s social media accounts, you could begin to think they have perfect lives 100% of the time.
