Most workplace cultures became what they are by random chance.

There was some leader in the early days of the company who either deliberately or unintentionally created a workplace culture. As additional team members were added, they influenced the direction of that culture, with the strong leaders swaying it more than the weak ones.

It was also influenced to a greater or lesser degree by every single person who ever worked in the organization.

On top of that, things like leadership fads, books, podcasts, speakers, and videos all had an impact. And then the regulatory and legal environment also factored in.

As leaders and others came and went, the culture shifted to become what you have today.
