A few days ago, I spent a late evening hour working on my golf game at the lighted driving range. Driving home at 9:30 pm, I was reviewing my very busy day when it popped into my head that a good friend of mine had connected me with some guy he met at a coffee shop he thought I should meet.
I initially responded that I would be glad to talk, and then completely dropped the ball.
As all this was swirling around in my head, I had this momentary flash of guilt, followed by the realization that the real thing I did wrong wasn’t failing to follow up — though that was wrong — but the real wrong was not saying NO to connecting with and meeting with that person in the first place.
