There are lots of nice people in the world.

We need nice people in the world. Maybe we even need more nice people than we have …

Particularly right now.

But … we need more than nice, because sometimes nice is not really nice at all.

For Instance

I have a friend who recently delivered a speech that was not very good. He put a lot of time into it, had the best of intentions, and really wanted to deliver something that would be helpful to his audience.

I can guarantee he got these two kinds of responses:

  1. “Good job,” “great message” ….
  2. Complete silence.

Both were very “nice,” exceedingly kind responses. And ultimately, the cruelest possible responses …
