I would suggest that they join me in a community and witness what our frontline staff is doing every day.
When you look at the numbers on paper and say, “Oh, we’re over in labor,” what you don’t see is that five family members walked in today, two residents were sick, one resident fell, now I’m running behind, and my coworker called in.
So I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to figure out what my next step is.
That’s what we miss when we’re looking at spreadsheets, data, and numbers. We miss what’s happening in real life.
