Turning regrets into opportunities, Alzheimer’s Urine Test, 101 year old shoveling snow and more…

By Steve Moran

I am a sort of researcher . . . I use that term cautiously because it implies academic and that I am not. I just barely made it through freshman English and, therefore, college because my English Comp professor had the good graces to die, forcing the college to convert my incomplete to a passing grade.

I spend a lot of time looking at all kinds of stories and articles on the internet. A few . . . maybe 5 or 6 are just plain cool. Some are cool but not worth turning into an article and others are cool and really have nothing to do with senior living, but I am thinking you might think they are cool too.

Not sure how often we will do this, no more than once a week; let me know what you think.

If You Are a Grumpy Cynical Person Maybe It is Not Your Fault

According to this article happiness seems to be largely correlated to a certain gene variant. This is why people who live in Nigeria rate themselves as being happier than Germans, even though, without question, life is much harder in Nigeria. So maybe if you are grumpy . . . if your residents and their families are grumpy, it is not really their fault.

101-Year-Old Shoveling Snow

Just a really fun story of a 101-year-old man who is out shoveling, not just his walkway, but the walkway of his neighbors as well. It will warm your heart.

Urine Test May Predict Alzheimer’s Disease

The test doesn’t exist yet but early tests on mice shows there might be something here.

Is It Time for You To Invest in the Adult Diaper Game

There is no doubt that making and selling diapers for babies is a huge business. Maybe you haven’t really thought about it but for just one company it represents billions of dollars of revenue each year. Now Kimberly-Clark is attempting to make adults love adult diapers.

Inspired by Regrets

This is a tremendously inspiring story about how even regrets can be turned into amazing opportunities. We sometimes think this is not true for ourselves and for our residents. This could be a cool thing to do with residents.
